Roberta M. Deutsch, LLC respects the privacy of the visitors who use this website. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and how we keep it. Please read it carefully.
Effective date: May 12, 2026.
Information we collect
We collect two kinds of information.
Information you provide directly — through the contact form, by email, or in a voicemail. This typically includes your name, phone number, email address, and a brief description of why you are getting in touch. We collect this information so that Roberta can respond.
Information collected automatically — when you visit this website, our hosting provider records standard server-log information including your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring page, the pages you view on the site, and the date and time of access. This information is used to maintain the security and stability of the site and to understand at a high level how visitors find and use it.
Cookies and similar technologies
This website uses a small number of cookies necessary for the site to function. We do not use third-party advertising cookies, behavioral retargeting, or cross-site tracking. Google Fonts may set request-level data when serving the typefaces used on this site, governed by Google’s privacy practices.
How we use your information
We use the information you provide to respond to your inquiry, to schedule consultations, and to communicate with you about the matter you have contacted us about. We use automatically-collected technical information to operate, maintain, and improve the website.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information to third parties for marketing purposes. Ever.
How we share your information
We share your information only in the following circumstances:
- With service providers who help us operate the website (for example, our website-hosting provider, our email service, or a payment processor for retainer transactions). These providers process information on our behalf, subject to confidentiality obligations.
- Within the firm — because the firm is a solo practice, this means with Roberta herself. There are no associates, paralegals, or other staff with access to your communications.
- When required by law — in response to a valid subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of the firm or others. We will object to overbroad requests and assert applicable privileges.
Confidentiality versus privacy
An important distinction: the attorney–client privilege is a separate legal protection that attaches only after a formal engagement has been established. Information you submit through the contact form, by email, or in a free initial phone call is not protected by the attorney–client privilege until that engagement is in place. Please do not send detailed case information through the form before speaking with Roberta.
Data retention
We retain inquiry information for as long as needed to respond to your matter, to comply with our legal and professional obligations, and to maintain reasonable business records. Server logs are retained per our hosting provider’s standard retention policies.
Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction of residence, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal information. To exercise these rights, contact the firm using the information below.
California residents
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) provides additional rights regarding your personal information, including the right to know what categories of personal information have been collected, the right to delete personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To make a CCPA request, contact the firm using the information below.
European Union residents
If you are located in the European Union, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) provides rights including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection regarding your personal information. To exercise these rights, contact the firm using the information below.
Children’s privacy
This website is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact the firm so we can remove it.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect the information you provide. No website transmission is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last updated. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
